shinintimes Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 Hay guys I'm looking for a back-up plan in case there is not enough ice to get on Chaumont bay !!! My buddy and I have talked about steelhead in the Niagara river for 15 years or more and since we know absolutely nothing about the river I think it wise to charter a few trips with that being said I would like any and all advise ( good and bad ) on charters places to stay best time year and is it even worth a 6 hr ride ... Thanks Paul
Decoy hound Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 I’ve used Matt Yablonsky of Wet Net Charters, very happy with my trip, very professional. Stayed at the Lakeview Motel in Youngstown, NY, about 15 minutes away. They have a motel or cabin to rent. 1

lineman49 Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Wet net charters & King fisher charters & River masters charters, all very good. I have fished with King Fisher & River master both have been at it for many years, but Wet net is very good also. They are all killing the steelies right now! 1

lineman49 Posted December 8, 2017 Report Posted December 8, 2017 The wind on lk Erie will have the lower river messed up for at least the next week, I would think. 1
mostlymuskies Posted December 8, 2017 Report Posted December 8, 2017 Yes with high winds today & Sunday to 30 mph, may be well over a week for good visibility water.Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App 1
jimski2 Posted December 19, 2017 Report Posted December 19, 2017 The ice boom went in last Sunday. Lake Erie water surface to bottom temperatures are now 39 degrees. In a couple weeks the ice will start to form and there will be less turbid water down in the lower river from high wind storms.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United 1
mostlymuskies Posted December 27, 2017 Report Posted December 27, 2017 Water temp now 34 degrees and outside temps at night are in the single digits all this week,Ice fishing will be safe very soon!Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App 1
