JustFishin..... Posted October 22, 2017 Report Posted October 22, 2017 All- Looking to see who has an outboard boat with the outboard on a Armstrong or similar bracket and how you set up your kicker. I’m thinking I will go with a solid kicker bracket (the adjustable scare me a bit). However I’m not sure unless I get a power trim tilt kicker how I will lower it. I was thinking of tying the steering together upfront with a panther style steering rod or tying right into the steering tube. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
mr 580 Posted October 23, 2017 Report Posted October 23, 2017 I use an Adventure Marine fixed kicker bracket on my Proline with a Stainless Marine bracket. I just tilt kicker when not in use. For steering I have brackets on hydraulic steering and kicker for quick connect rod. Pretty common on west coast to run kickers this style. I've had people comment that the setup looked like a factory option. 1

Are you running power trim or are you able to reach to drop it down by hand?Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mr 580 Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 Dropping and Lifting by hand- when I update kicker I would look into power tilt. I have a backer plate under the mount and a safety chain for kicker. Also use a ratchet strap to boat tie down to keep kicker tight when running. Found a couple pictures from when I setup boat originally.
JustFishin..... Posted October 25, 2017 Author Report Posted October 25, 2017 That is a sweet set upSent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United
jimski2 Posted October 27, 2017 Report Posted October 27, 2017 There is an outboard bracket with an electric steering control on it. It is controlled by a remote control that you have on your belt and it allows you to attend your lines in the stern. Great when you fish alone.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United
blackeyes Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) I bought some aluminum plate cut to specfic size, welded it together and then powder coated. Total cost about $170.00. Hung a new Mercury pro 9.9 Kicker with electric start, tilt, panther steer and pro troll 3. Works awesome Edited October 28, 2017 by blackeyes 2
JustFishin..... Posted May 9, 2019 Author Report Posted May 9, 2019 Been a long time since I posed this question. I ended up buying proline 231 at the end of last season and mounted the kicker today on an adventure style bracket. Still have to plumb the fuel, run the control cables and power. But so far so good.
