my dad fishes pa and ohio all the time with harnesses, plugs and spoons. everything has a time and a place, I fish ny with all three depending on the time of year and what they are hitting at that time.

It can be a time of the year thing too. At certain times spinners out perform sticks and the other way around. We fish the whole lake (east and west basin)and use both.

I have found the further East you go the lighter the bites usually are! Barcelona & west walleye take a lure & release off the big boards. Dunkirk to Buffalo you will drag a few big fish off boards & riggers,  have to check lines often.

I fish out of Barcelona and North East, and I never bottom bounce jigs while drifting.  I troll spoons and stick baits.  Never felt a need to change.  Ive never "dragged" a BIG fish, but some smaller ones I have.  usually on the inlines pulling Reef Runners or deep diving crank baits.
