Gas leak

Hey folks: Got the boat out of hiding today, and found out that my gas tank has a leak Its a plastic tank. Anyone know if it can be repaired. There's a small hole on the bottom edge. Appreciate any help.

I would look at replacing the tank for safety reasons.  The tank would need to come out for repair (I don't know if plastic tanks are repairable) or replacement so that labor is the same either way.  By replacing you'd have job done and no chance of having to do twice if a repair failed.  Wouldn't be surprised if ethanol fuel is part of plastic tank failure.  I have a Lund with plastic tank-no problems so far-knock on wood.  Good luck with repair.

Hi 580: I just checked with a company that does plastic welding, and they looked at the tank and said it is a Crosslink Polimer and it can't be welded with any guarantee. I wish there was some kind of rubber plug I could stick in and tighten. I'll keep looking for a bit. I need to be completely satisfied it will work or I will order another tank. I had a couple other replys saying the same thing, replace and be safe. Cheers.

I use three portable gas tanks now. Fill them locally, any water and sediment is easy to remove and have a good knowledge of gasoline available.
