chascurt Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 Help!! I Need Lowrance Repair I can't find anyone who does Out-Of-Warranty repairs on Lowrance units. I have an Elite 5 DSI that has a keypad problem. Anybody know of someone who works on Lowrance?
Nalod Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) I think Tony's reel repair (in Orchard Park, NY - 716-662-5692) fixes Humminbird units...if he does not fix Lowrance, he may know someone that does? --Joe Edited February 13, 2017 by Nalod 1
chascurt Posted February 13, 2017 Author Report Posted February 13, 2017 Thanks Joe. I'll give 'em a call. Seems several places do Humminbird, including Humminbird themselves. They even post standard prices on their web site. Don't know why Lowrance doesn't. Charlie 1
chascurt Posted February 13, 2017 Author Report Posted February 13, 2017 I talked to Tony, he says nobody, including Lowrance, fixes Lowrance units. He said to call Lowrance which I tried before but tried again. They offered to take my broke unit in on trade for a new Hook 5 for $175.00 plus $12.50 shipping. Doubt I'll do that. Couple places are selling Humminbird 598's, with side scan, for $200. after rebate.
Nalod Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 Sorry to hear that, Charlie. Very scary to hear...especially since I have Lowrance in my boat! --Joe 1
Smoke-n-Finn Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 Really no different than any other electronics these days, what happens when your phone, TV, ect doesn't work. New one, not profitable to fix or make parts for. Especially by time they break. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
lineman49 Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 I have had bad service from lowrance also & I have heard the same from others. They don't want to do repairs but they want to sell you a new unit. I think next upgrade will not be a lowrance!
mr 580 Posted February 15, 2017 Report Posted February 15, 2017 As Smoke-n-Finn says its pretty tough to get any consumer electronics repaired today. At least Lowrance offered an option- not sure how features on Hook 5 compare to the Elite 5 DSI but it might be worth a look. On an out of warranty unit they could have just said "sorry". Not trying to stick up for Lowrance as I've had mixed experiences with their warranty and service. I do have Humminbird as well and they have one year warranty. For us guys in the north that only run summer months a one year warranty goes away pretty quick. Hope things work out for you. 1
chascurt Posted February 15, 2017 Author Report Posted February 15, 2017 Basically the features are the same I believe. Obviously the Hook would be upgraded technology. BPS has 'em for $300. so they weren't overpaying for my unit. And yeah, my main unit is a Humminbird. Actually the only way i ended up with the Lowrance in the first place was a buddy sold his boat and wanted to sell it to me cheap. Humminbird does have a flat rate repair fee for their units based on the model but it's kinda high for older units and generally not worth what they want. I did send in a 998c HD SI a couple years ago and they replaced it for $370. which I thought was pretty good at the time.
garrymny Posted April 10, 2018 Report Posted April 10, 2018 ok so what happens when the HDS 7 Gen3 I just bought, that is also needed to control the autopilot that I also just bought, goes bad....? Not good to hear. These units are not cheap. Rats.
chascurt Posted April 10, 2018 Author Report Posted April 10, 2018 Ya might call 'em just to see what kinda deal they'd offer. I'd be interested to hear what they say.
schmitty3607 Posted April 10, 2018 Report Posted April 10, 2018 Did your hds break or are you saying if it doesSent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United
garrymny Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 No it hasn't broken.....yet. I'm just worried now, that if it breaks, I lose it and the ability to control my lowrance autopilot.
Alumacraft205 Posted April 14, 2019 Report Posted April 14, 2019 Lowrance offered me 100 dollar trade in on my he's. Went to hummingbird after 30 years with Lowrance. Never going back No it hasn't broken.....yet. I'm just worried now, that if it breaks, I lose it and the ability to control my lowrance autopilot. Cheezman Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 I'm hearing the same things over and over about Lowrance,...terrible CS and not good quality in their newer units, if it breaks out of warranty, you're screwed!!! I think my next unit is going to be a Garmin...hearing lots of good things about them, their units, their quality, their CS !!!! My 2 cents...
J. Sparrow Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 Cheeze....... I have been running Garmin units and don't have any data on their customer service. Seems I never need it.

Loneranger64 Posted April 18, 2019 Report Posted April 18, 2019 Hi Charlie google lowrance repair theirs a small company in Oklahoma that still works on repairing lowrance units if they have parts. Sorry I don't have their phone #. Usually $150 to repair, might be better with new unit? Good luck "Loneranger".
Dennyboy Posted April 18, 2019 Report Posted April 18, 2019 Hey Chascurt, Just a thought..did you try to reset the unit you have? I am not sure how to do that on your model. I do believe you will loose way points so you kay try to write them down if possble.
chascurt Posted April 18, 2019 Author Report Posted April 18, 2019 Thanks guys. I appreciate your help but got rid of the Lowrance long ago. I'm stickin' with Humminbird. Lotsa parts/accessories available for 'em and I've had good luck with their service. I also have a friend who has spent a lot of time with Humminbird reps on the phone while he was on the water and they were great to help him just learning the fine points of a new Helix. I'm sure someone has some bad stories about 'em but I haven't heard any.
jimski2 Posted November 17, 2019 Report Posted November 17, 2019 Does anyone know who fixes television sets? I guess they are throwaways also.
