Pequod1 Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 What are your suggestions for the placement of a snap weight on a ten color? The other day, I placed it where my 50' of mono met the first color and later between the second and third color. Didn't work. We are fishing 65-70 down lately.
J. Sparrow Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 I always put it on the backing, about 30'in......... regardless of the number of colors being weighted....... that way things are consistent and can be duplicated with success.
Dmd113 Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) We attach the leadcore to leader using spro swivel. Snap weights go on leader to keep from damaging lead or Dacron sheath on the cores! Edited September 26, 2016 by Dmd113
backoneerie2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Report Posted November 14, 2016 Try the 50/50 method. Let out 50 ft. Snap on weight and let out another50 ft. Use the precision trolling appSent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
justtracytrolling Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 The closer you get the clip weights to the lure the more the lure will move up and down in the water column as your speed changes so it really depends on how much column you want to cover. There are charters that I've heard run clip weights less than 10 feet from the lure. Where I'm at the fish tend to be in a small band of the column so I put my clips in front of the lead core and fine tune the depth with the amount of backer I let out.
