With 75 degree surface temperature, the walleye catch dropped to colder water. From 300 degree course off Evangola Park in 71 foot of water and farther out and SW the walleyes were stacked below 50 foot to the bottom. Worm harnesses off riggers and Dipseys produced. Side planers were useless. You had to get deeper and near bottom was good out to 79 foot of water. High sun and blue bird sky slowed the action down and the bite picked up later after noon. Clouds and and evening bite were best. The best  screen was 72 to 75 foot down, further out things slowed down.

Finally after a week of easterly type winds, a good catch of larger walleye came in. In 81 foot of water, west of the Dunkirk stacks, a limit catch of 5 to 8 pound walleyes was taken. Using smelt sizes spoons on #3 setting Dipseys set out 150 foot of braid. The eastern basin is almost devoid of fish due to the upwelling of colder water from the wrong winds. Southwest winds should return this week and the fishing should turn back on.
