chowder Posted February 25, 2021 Report Posted February 25, 2021 Need some pointers on targeting kitty cats this spring out of a boat. Willing to trade for your experience with these critters for a trip on Ontario.
jimski2 Posted February 25, 2021 Report Posted February 25, 2021 In June a lot of large catfish show up there to spawn in the warmer than the lake waters
chowder Posted February 26, 2021 Author Report Posted February 26, 2021 For some reason I was under the impression that it was March /April?
ghauser Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 Never targeted cats, but caught one 2 years ago while perch fishing in front of the Catt - had to be 20 lbs (on perch rod 6lb test - took about 30-40 mins to get in), so that had to be in April. Mac on myfishfinder.com talks about catfishing during spring (I don't think he's on this site) - but if you go there I'm sure he would give you advice.
Fyshon Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 Cats don't come into the creek mouths until the water temp warms up and then they will start moving to the mouth and up the creeks to spawn. This usually doesn't happen until mid MaySent from my SM-N981U using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Have seen a few guys wrestling with them on my way in from fishing the lake. Looks fun.
jimski2 Posted March 3, 2021 Report Posted March 3, 2021 Deep holes occur at the railroad bridges above and below the bridge west side. my graph showed a depth of 16 foot of water there, It seems that would be a good spot to start fishing.
