Ten Percent Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 thanks Ckawski...that is good to know as I'm 2 plus hours from Dunkirk and not linked in to tournament fishing schedules etc. Any chance of sharing your report if you do go Thur/Fri? thanks!!!
Ckawski Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 Yea I will Sent from my VS990 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mostlymuskies Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 I go out of Barcelona because of less boats launching thereSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mostlymuskies Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 Ten Percent, doesn't make a differance between harnesses & sticks as long as your close to bottomSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Sticks usually need greater speed to obtain better action. Speed covers more water and better boat control. Still harnesses produce well. I usually set up all the same gear for good results.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Ten Percent Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 thanks guys....hope to see you out there...
mostlymuskies Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 When I run harnesses with stickbaits,I use the bigger colorado thumber blade harnesses that will still work at 2.0 to 2.2 mph, speed where I also like trolling renosky sticks.Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mostlymuskies Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Just remember that harnesses will rise a little more as you go up in speed,so you need to adjust line out for depthSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Willow blades are my usual hug speed harnesses. Colorado blades work well at slow speed. Indiana blades are in between speeds.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Sixty years years ago we used a "flatfish with a worm" along with spinners like "June bugs with a worm". They caught a lot of yellow pike.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mostlymuskies Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 The 3D Thumper blade will take the higher speed well, guess I should have not called it a colorado bladeSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Ten Percent Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 do you guys like anything else besides the renoski sticks? I don't have those in the arsenal yet. 25 plus years ago we always did well out of Dunkirk & Barcelona on deep diving cranks off the boards in the summertime...like bomber Long A's, Bagleys etc
jimski2 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 I have every kind in my tackle box, it is just that Renskys come out all the time now.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
peas247 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 we still pull flat and kwikfish and pick up eyes...flicker minnows in the 3" and 4" grab a few...colorado blades have always outproduced willows blades for usSent from my LGLS990 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
peas247 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 but we purely bounce bottom....no riggers...dipsy...divers...leadcore... all we do is 3 way rigginSent from my LGLS990 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Ckawski Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Bomber have been my best stick so far this year Sent from my VS990 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Ten Percent Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 the deep diving "Long A's"? or a shallow running bomber? any color preference this year? I know & realize color preference can change by the hour out there sometimes
jimski2 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 A bombs are reported to be hot lures again. They worked twenty years ago and I dug a dozen out of my cellar last week and put them on the boat again,Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Ckawski Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Been using the bombs all were most of the colors catching fish perch one has been my bestSent from my VS990 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Pequod1 Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 We got six today out to 74' NW of Sturgeon in the fleet. Nothing on the dipseys today. 4 on the riggers set at 65 and two on the lead core at ten colors. Lead core was dead until we switched over to a rainbow colored renosky. The rigger bites were purple reef runners, and harnesses.
Seamaster Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 heading to Dunkirk in the am have not been out in 2 weeks any help would be great thanks
mostlymuskies Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 Some boats did well in 70 ft straight out in front of Dunkirk,60 to 65 ft downSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
