Pequod1 Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 I did talk to some guys at the cleaning station at the SBH. They had 4 small eyes and one nice 30" fish fishing out of Sturgeon. I fished for perch again out of Dunkirk. Saw the same boat at the exact spot as last week and fished near them. First drop again, a 30" eye on the perch rig with a golden shiner. Two trips in a row, exact same thing. After that , just a few scattered schools of perch. Nothing super big this week. Only kept 25. Can't get out for a while. Jury duty next week. If the weather is nice next Tuesday, I will push for an early conviction on Monday so I can get out. Poor soul!
mostlymuskies Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 I heard of a couple boats fishing just east of Dunkirk in 80 ft of water had 25 eyes each boat.Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
JustFishin..... Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 Migrations on?Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
RD9 Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 Yep fishing was good in tight on the bottom to the east. 75 ft on the bottom. Fish are everywhere. As far as the migration being on I'm skeptical that the fish we are catching nearshore in Dunkirk are from Ohio. Considering there has been a real good in tight bite since mid May. It has just moved out a little further. They have just became more aggressive and merged with some of the offshore fish. I also believe that the fish inside are mostly bottom oriented which makes them easier to target once located. 1
mostlymuskies Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 RD9,I believe you are correct, the eyes in 70 to 75 ft of water seem to all come from 60 ft down or more. The eyes being caught in 85 ft to 95 ft of water seem to be from top to bottom, with a bigger percentage caught at 25 to 30 ft down.Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Seabee75 Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 They do seem to have merged more than normal. Catching small, medium, and large in same school. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted August 25, 2016 Report Posted August 25, 2016 Follow the water temperature and you will find the fish. Dead oxygen zones below the thermocline though are fish deserts. This has been going on all my life.
jimski2 Posted August 25, 2016 Report Posted August 25, 2016 The Walleyes are known to rise up or down when they see feed.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mostlymuskies Posted August 25, 2016 Report Posted August 25, 2016 They also rise up to water temperature pockets as wellSent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Flybuster Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Hey guys how's the lake this morning? I want to bring my daughter but she dose not do well if it's rolling and the wind seems inconsistent at my house. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
overthelimit Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 I'm no expert but currently 1.3 feet at the buoy so probably feels like 2-3 footers. Just my opinion.
mostlymuskies Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Yesterday they said 1 ft or less, we had 4 to 5 fters around 1 pm Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
