backoneerie2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Was told this morning not to use dipseys or jet divers. They spook the fish too much. . So what are your thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Eyestopper Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 I use them all the time with good success. Some days lead core or copper is better but dipsys usually produce.
Ryeud Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 They produce people r set in there ways Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
tincandan Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Have used both divers and dypsies for years as well. For suspended fish, especially in deep water they're great. Lead core is useful as well. If possible, I like to run without in-line planers.
fishmaster Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Dipseys catch a lot of fish. Whoever said that is missing out on a couple of great fish catching tools.
jpj488 Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 We have fished dipsies at 50ft on a 3 setting and caught fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Lures with a twist Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Dipsy Divers probably catch just as many walleyes as anything else!! And some of the biggest ones! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
huck42 Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 I use 6 at the same time and pull in limits. I think the colored ones actually help. Like using a flasher. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App

backoneerie2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Author Report Posted June 14, 2016 I was told that by the guy at capt bobs Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
PostletownWW Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 That is crazy. We only use them and we do very well!
Eyestopper Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 We use size 0 or size 1 with "o" rings depending on depth we're fishing. Sent from my SM-G928V using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 The leader between the dipsey or jet should be as long as possible. The length of your rod and a couple more feet with 20 pound test fluorocarbon are ideal. Big fish will snap the line after the dipsey even with snubbers. lineman49 Posted June 15, 2016 Report Posted June 15, 2016 We prefer dipsey's & jets over anything else, easy to set/rig up. We like the metallic colors, blue, purple, green, & black.

fischer Posted June 16, 2016 Report Posted June 16, 2016 I was wondering if anyone runs wire with dipseys on Erie or does it spook the walleye. Also , can you run in-line planers with dipseys or will it tangle up?
lineman49 Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 Use wire dipseys mostly when fishing deeper water. Also run in lines with dipseys.
fischer Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks. Should I run dipseys inside of in line planers?
J. Sparrow Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 FISCH....... I've run wire divers for walleyes with success..... and I don't run inlines, but do run big boards along-side wire divers without much problem........ and yes, run your dipseys on the inside of the board lines......
fischer Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks guys! One more question is I usually run the dipseys at 3 to 3 1/2. Should I use a 2 setting if I'm also running boards?
Lures with a twist Posted June 21, 2016 Report Posted June 21, 2016 I run them on 3 setting with 3 inline boards off one side never had a problem just make sure your dipsy is deeper then everything else and your good to go!! They are easy fast and straight up catch fish! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
RD9 Posted June 21, 2016 Report Posted June 21, 2016 We run wire and braid divers all the time. They are not as effective early in the year as the will be going forward into the heat of the summer. On jet divers I'll say they are much less effective then a segemented core and a flouro leader. I sold everyone I owned but they do offer a cheaper way to fish different depths then having ten lead core rigs. Inline boards with segmented lead core sets is the way to go in my opinion. Most of the charters still run big boards but I think if they tried the in line boards and stuck with it they wouldn't go back. Big boards are probably easier to use then in lines with customers but there is no better action then a church board, segmented core and rynowsky in a nice walleye chop.
fischer Posted June 21, 2016 Report Posted June 21, 2016 By segmented , do you mean like a 2 core , line in between and then maybe another 2 or core and etc? If so how much line between each cores and what pound test between? I have a 10 core On a reel I hardly use that I could break up that way and get a variety of different cores.
RD9 Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 By segmented I mean for example a 5 color would be roughly 200 yards of backing (20lb test backing). 5 colors of lead and a thirty ft leader. Let out the five colors of lead and say thirty feet of backing attach board and let out. Same with 2 and 3 cores all the way up to ten. On our boat we will run two or three of the same color per side with the same amount of backing in the water. Like Sunday out of Dunkirk we ran two seven colors on one side and two fives on the other, two Dipsey and two riggers with a ten color as a chute rode. 1
