RD9 Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 We took 2nd and the 1st place Calcutta money. Fished west of Catt off center road ran 3 7 colors and 3 8 colors with husky jerks on 7. Rynowsky on 8 color. Only caught 6 walleye we could wiegh. We caught around 70 walleye plus Friday and Saturday. 50 to 60 ft with walleye coming off bottom in 75 degree water. Crazy amounts of a sheep some which were giants. 4

Justin Emerling Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 Ran a 10 color lead with 30 feet of mono 15 lb with worm harness. When I pulled the line the mono seemed stretched and twisted. Any advice on what's best for leaders and lbSent from my SM-G955U using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mr 580 Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 I use 15lb fluorocarbon leader and for length 20 feet along with a good quality swivel. Twisted line might be a bad swivel or spun up from dragging a trash fish around spinning.
Misdirection Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 Add a small barrel swivel about half way thru your leader. That should help.Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk

They are strong and will fit through your guides easilySent from my SM-N950U using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Justin Emerling Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 Good to know. Thanks for repliesSent from my SM-G955U using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mike m. Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 We use 20 lb big game or P-Line for our leaders on all lead core rods. At end of leader is a #2 duolock snap. About 6-7 ft up the leader is a 35 lb spro power swival. Its real tiny. This setup works good for stickbaits. If running a harness the duolock snap is replaced with a ball bearing swivel. The 20 lb is more durable and less likely to twist then 15 lb. Don't think line shyness is much of a factor that far away from boat. 2

Attach to your main line and run a leader to your harness or spoon. You’ll never have a problem again. Can find them on Fish USA

walnut109 Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 Headed out for the next 3 days starting tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully the forecasted winds will stay light to moderate. Will report back when we return home. Hopefully the bite will be decent.
Stillwater Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 Good luck Walnut. I remember you from ice fishing on Owasco. We chatted on north end.
walnut109 Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 Been a couple years since we had good ice on Owasco. I like perch fishing there, but love trolling for Erie walleyes. 1
walnut109 Posted August 1, 2020 Report Posted August 1, 2020 A bit slow but light winds let us fish 3 days in a row. Kept 5 Thursday, 7 Friday and 2 today. Wished we could have done better. Lots of blank screens. Variety of baits took fish. Blue chrome was best. 2
