Sbflomike Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 Behind the break wall at the south gap, outside Safe Harbor? Trolling or jigging?

Bottom Bouncer Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 Got out Sat am and only managed one fishing the windmills. Is anybody getting daytime fish?
mike m. Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 We got a 3 man limit in about 36-34 fow between hamburg town park and 2nd windmill to the right. Five color with sticks. Small dipseys out 65-85 on a 3. Ended with 3 extras on breakdown that we threw back. Gonna be a great year! 2
Slapshot Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 Got out for the first time yesterday behind the windmills, fished 32- 39 feet of water, manager to get 6 and 1 throwback. We had to work for them. All fish came on harnesses, nothing on sticks or spoons. 1
Fishy7816 Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 When we run harnesses behind leadcore we will get lots of hits but no takers then we reel up and the worm is gone. Should we slow down or what can we do to increase hook ups?? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
J. Sparrow Posted June 8, 2020 Report Posted June 8, 2020 One option is to troll "S" patterns if traffic permits. That'll speed up your outside boards and slow the inside, raising and lowering baits....... Many times those changes will trigger strikes.
jimski2 Posted June 9, 2020 Report Posted June 9, 2020 Worms are also taken by white perch, white bass, sheep head, and little walleyes. 1
Fishy7816 Posted June 9, 2020 Report Posted June 9, 2020 We went out of sbh out to 20-40 fow I front of smokes creek and bottom bounced at .7-1.3 faster seemed better watermelon copper and purple/blue was good caught a monster (9+) put em back for next week! Tightlines to all fishing derby Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App 1

Bottom Bouncer Posted June 10, 2020 Report Posted June 10, 2020 Thanks for the posts. We got out a little after 6pm and got 2 in the first ten minutes in 40 fow and then nothing for 2 hours. I saw your posts and moved into 30 - 35 fow of smokes creek and got 5 in 45 minutes. 3
Sbflomike Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 Slow today. Two right away in the morning then nada. Judging by the boats out at 7 and the few remaining closer too noon wondering if they went deeper. Spent a lot of time from 30-35'
Fishy7816 Posted June 18, 2020 Report Posted June 18, 2020 Slow day for us as well only managed one Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
Bottom Bouncer Posted June 19, 2020 Report Posted June 19, 2020 Got out for a few hours this evening. Started behind the windmills in 35-37 fow. Tons of fish on the screen, but didn't catch anything. Moved out to 45-47 fow and got 6 in about two hours. Unfortunately the sheephead were out a little deeper too, but if that's the price to catch walleyes we'll live with that.
Ric66 Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 Hi, New to LEU and my first post. Fished out of Buffalo in the morning yesterday. Could only mge 2 walleye and some sheep heads. Best walleye came on 3 color core on side planner with #9 jointed rapala. Did catch a 13lb channel cat on a bottom bouncing worm harness that surprised the heck out of me. This is my first year fishing out on Erie. Usually fishing Ontario for salmon out of Rochester. I'll be watching these reports to try and learn how to consistently catch walleye. One question I had- do you guys catch walleye all through the summer out of Buffalo or do you have to go south to find deeper water? Thanks, Bob

ws6rufus Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 Sunday 6/21 6:30-Noon. Started in 55-60ft hooked a spunky 7lb steelhead and then got (2) nice 4-5lb fish early then bites stopped. Moved into 35-45ft at about 9:00am and got (2) 20" fish then it was dead from 10am till noon. Never saw many fish on the screen other than lots of huge schools of Perch in the 60ft water. All fish were on 3-5 leadcore. Nothing on downriggers or deeper than 5 colors. All fish on worm harnesses, nothing on stickbaits. 1
J. Sparrow Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 Very thorough report ws6rufus...….. thanks. 1
jimski2 Posted June 23, 2020 Report Posted June 23, 2020 The hot weather has warmed Lake Erie up earlier than usual. Deeper water show fish top and bottom now. The bottom schools are not all perch and could be smelt.Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United
Fyshon Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 Thanks jimski2, do you think the fishing will pick up soon.? I have family coming in for the 4th and I promised them fish... I know, I know I should know better by now... Sent from my SM-N950U using Lake Erie United Mobile App
jimski2 Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 If the surface temperature is above 70 degrees, start looking in 65 foot of water.
mike m. Posted June 29, 2020 Report Posted June 29, 2020 We did a slow pick for 11 eyes near border in 55-65 fow. All sticks, 5 and 7 color ieadcore off inlines. Big dipseys on #2 out 80 to 90. Last week we had a ton of bait out there but caught fewer eyes . This week almost no bait but we caught more eyes.
