Jbyler Posted August 14, 2019 Report Posted August 14, 2019 Hey guys this is my first summer fishing Lake Erie. I bought a boat earlier this year that came with the big planer boards which I never used before. I would like to know if I can drag luhr jensen jets with spoons or crawler harnesses off of them. a7i3nw0rksh0p Posted August 14, 2019 Report Posted August 14, 2019 The longer leader you have , the harder it’ll be trying to retrieve fish into the boat , so kinda keep that in mind when setting em up , Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
mr 580 Posted August 14, 2019 Report Posted August 14, 2019 If you use an 8’ or 8’6 rod will allow for a bit longer leader. Much easier if leader is short enough to land fish without hand lining last bit of leader. With the bigger jets a trip mechanism is helpful as they pull pretty good. Jets can be pretty effective -does take running them a bit to get the hang of it.
Misdirection Posted August 14, 2019 Report Posted August 14, 2019 My rule of thumb is to make your leader the length of your rod.Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk
