Newbie To Fishing Lake Erie

Hey guys this is my first summer fishing Lake Erie. I bought a boat earlier this year that came with the big planer boards which I never used before. I would like to know if I can drag luhr jensen jets with spoons or crawler harnesses off of them.

Yes you can, set rods up with just braid and 5 ft mayb 10ft at the most ft fluorocarbon leaders at the end ,

The longer leader you have , the harder it’ll be trying to retrieve fish into the boat , so kinda keep that in mind when setting em up ,

If you use an 8’ or 8’6 rod will allow for a bit longer leader.  Much easier if leader is short enough to land fish without hand lining last bit of leader.  With the bigger jets a trip mechanism is helpful as they pull pretty good.  Jets can be pretty effective -does take running them a bit to get the hang of it.

My rule of thumb is to make your leader the length of your rod.
