  1. Fished out of Sturgeon Point today. 12 pm till 8 pm. Got a little bumpy from about 5 to 8 pm. We got 3 eyes 19 to 22 inches on harnesses. Started oout with bottom bouncers then changed to trolling with dipsies then back to drifting with bb'ers when the wind and waves picked up. We caught more sheephead than ever before... about 20. Thought we were going to do better.
  2. For me it's 121 miles to Barcelona vs. 83 miles to Sturgeon... if I fish until dusk it makes for a long night driving back and adding cleaning time on top of that. The extra money to launch at Sturgeon is well worth it to save on both time and gas money if there's active fish in both waters.
  3. Thanks for sharing Walnut109. Quality fish. How deep were you?
  4. Hi Turbo, what time of day were you fishing? I have had real tough bites change for the better if I hold out until evening when the sun is lower. Since I have a long ride to get there I don't try for the early morning bite. Mid day is typically slower but things get better as evening approaches. Also with the full "buck" moon they might have been feeding all night long and weren't hungry? Keep on it and you will have a big catch soon.
  5. Awesome job. Making a fishing buddy for life! Nice boat.
  6. Thanks for starting up a new Sturgeon report thread!
  7. Nice report Puking Dog. Good to see some fish are biting in this area. It is a lot simpler fishing with sticks (and spoons) and fewer junk fish, but some of the limit catches are being reported taken on harnesses. I wonder if that would have turned them on?
  8. Way to go Cisco! That's awesome.
  9. Way to go Cisco! That's awesome.
  10. Just got back from fishing out of Barcelona this afternoon with my daughter. We fished from 3:30 until dark. Mainly in 58 to 65 fow and west of the launch. Landed 7 eyes between us (17 to 25 inches). Some nice healthy fish. All on harnesses off dipsys. Also landed a few sheeps. Trolled west and found the red roof landmark. Was marking eyes but they didn't start to bite until close to 7 pm. Then it was pretty consistent heading back with the wind at our backs. Lost a few more on the fight up as well. Would have preferred to bottom bounce with rod in hand but it wasn't blowing hard enough to create enough speed so we trolled with our 2 dipsy rods. Big thank you to CrestCom21. First time out of Barcelona launch. Was debating to launch from Sturgeon and decided to give it a try. Will post a picture later. Getting late and time to filet!
  11. I checked my Navionics Boating mobile app on my phone and the state line is on it. It is also on my chart plotter Navionics chip that I use in my Lowrance Hook 5 unit. If you look at a map there is a point that goes out a little ways after crossing into PA. This is where Twentymile creek goes into the lake. A little farther west there is a Marina called North east marina. These are a couple landmarks but I have never been there.
  12. Thanks for launch updates Ghauser.
  13. Wow, that's tough fishing. Thanks for the report. I may be trying later this week. Maybe out of Sturgeon this time.
  14. Is the state launch still operating? Must be high.
  15. Might be sheephead?
  16. You are right Cisco, hopefully my next outing is better.
  17. Fished out of the Catt today. 1 to 8 pm. Caught 2 eyes, 21" and a short, 1 sheep. Eye came on fire tiger harness in 73 fow. Never found consistent marks. Beautiful day to be on the water though.
  18. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Some are also strung with wire leader. They should take a beating.
  20. A lot of line damage from those teeth and gill plates. Worth checking them for nicks and fraying after each fight.
  21. I have had this happen with lower cost / lower quality lines that are used on some harnesses. I think it is worth seeking out and paying a little more for harnesses that use quality line. Many brands will advertise the pound test and type of line they use as a selling point.
  22. Nice fish Rutnut! Guess they are there. Just have to locate them. Not real deep.
  23. Thanks for the report J.S. This will help in deciding where we go. Maybe out of the Catt. I fished out of Sturgeon last year and had some similar outings.
  24. Meant to post this question in "2021 @ the Catt". Might consider going out of Sturgeon though.
  25. Thinking of heading out of the Catt on Thursday afternoon. Bouy is showing water temp at 68 degrees now. Looks like some cooler air is coming from the north. Any updates prior from today and tomorrow would be great. Thanks guys.
