    Good perch catches coming in now from mud bottom waters like fifty five foot and deeper. The spawn should be over as surface waters are reported to be fifty degrees F.

    Walleyes suspended near the surface never appear on your screen. The boat spooks them away and the size of your sonar signal cone is too small to pick then up. Fish plugs on planer boards with split shots or small sinkers.

    I was stopped by an ECO officer who claimed I had two day limit is ducks. At the check in station, mine and my driver who was parking the car. My saving moment was they were tied together on separate strings. Basically there were six days catch there in the back of the truck that could be cited.     Trailer boaters are the last priority. The State of New York takes all the sales taxes and registration fees and keeps them. Thirty some miles between boat ramps on Lake Erie is unacceptable.     The ramp area is full of sand, it has to be dug out first.

    The Canadian commercial fishery take thousands of tons of smelt annually but American waters are untouched. They are the most dangerous invasive species predator in the lake. Yet we ignore their presence. Not only emerald shiners are their forage they decimate the fry and fingerlings of all species. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United

    The Power Authority has tons of money for their delicensing permit. New York State collects millions of dollars from boating sales taxes and registration fees. They can not say their is no money. They spend billions on highways for cars and trucks. They spend billions of dollars on Colleges. Yet where the money comes from they ignore them.     I attended a meeting where an Oceanographer lectured. He claimed Sturgeon Point is in the littoral zone near the beach and a lot of mud, sand and debris is mixed with storm water . It settles in that harbor basin and dredging is needed twice annually. It is just in the wrong spot on the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United

    I use 20# fluorocarbon and tie the hooks with palomar knots. 2/0 hooks to hold on to the big girls.

    Sturgeon Point Marina is an annual disaster. It is located in the littoral shoreline zone and storm sediments settle in the calm waters present there. Delays in operation happen annually and sometimes early fall with a sandbar blocking access to the lake.

    There are a lot of perch fishermen who care less about walleyes.
