  1. Canada has installed thousands of windmills on the near shore of all the Great Lakes there. They are years ahead of the USA. Fresh water lakes in a good blow will fall over due too icings. Just take a look on the Canadian shoreline at night, those red lights are wind mills. The local government receives taxes from them, not the downstate politicians. 5. What is going on? The Arctic Terns that breed on the breakwater have disappeared . The jumbo perch we caught are full of planktons, not minnows. The throw back perch have disappeared. Bait dealers have no emeralds. The Commercial Fishermen are not there to dump the blame on. The smelt masses are not seen. Plenty of walleyes out in 75 plus feet of water. 6. Jr. and I spent the game time checking the score on the cell phone. In 65 foot of water we found scattered groups of perch , all jumbo sized, scattered around. They quickly took golden shiners but also quickly disappeared . After an hour we ran several miles to 75 foot of water due West . There we found suspended walleyes stacked up in the area 70 foot down. Action was slow with a Northeasterly blowing. The screen displayed large hooks stacked up to 85 foot out but the action was slow, only two taken on harnesses set on the riggers at 70 foot and bottom bouncing. Maybe we started too late and the NE winds were a problem but as the cold nights coming up now, we will find the fishing moving shallow. The stomach of the perch had no minnnows but tiny plankton critters. Serious problem may be a lack of bait out there due to divers reporting record numbers of walleye in the river and lake. Walleyes may be a problem no one anticipated . Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App

  7. Yesterday’s trip out from 65 to 80 foot of water using 4 lines with Dipseys resulted in only three nice walleyes. A bluebird sky and east wind made comfortable fishing but not productive results. No Matter that the bottom was marked by plenty of walleye looking hooks on the screen. Our companion boat boxed out with six walleye and a rainbow trout. The use of downrigger lines was productive in pulling the walleyes up off the bottom. Worm harnesses produced all the fish. 9. You need to travel west of Silver Creek this time of year and water temperatures [emoji41].. Even better there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
  10. 8:30AM, no breeze now, later like noon,? Start at 55 foot and look at your fish finder. Keep going out to the Canadian line and watch the screen. When fish are seen, set your down riggers to below the fish. After seeing big hooks above the cannonballs, pop the lures free and flutter your lures up through the fish. Worm harnesses troll at less than 1mph. Stickbaits troll at 2 to 2.5 mph. Big clouds of bait on the bottom, try for perch with one minnow on the mud near your sinker. 11. Right now the best perch and walleye fishing is in 81 foot of water, five miles west of Silver Creek and Cattaraugus Creek. Down riggers and bottom bouncers will put you in the best depths . Worm harnesses at 1.5 mph and stick baits at 2 plus mph are good. Fire Tiger colors are a good starting pattern. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App

  16. Sunday, smaller walleyes were in 60 plus feet of water. Larger walleyes were in 70 plus feet of water. This was out of harbors from Point Breeze to Northeast PA. Limit catches everywhere out there in deep water especially near the Canadian Border. Shallow water fishing had blank screens. Bottom water temperature was in the 70’s. 18. Catt was good yesterday for walleyes on harnesses. Bring minnows for perch on the bottom since you drove down there. Best screens were from 41 to 81 foot of water. Walleyes on harnesses were less than 2 mph trolling speed. Stickbaits worked best at 2 plus mph. Perch were on the mud up to 20 foot off the bottom. Bring plenty of ice to keep the fish fresh. 23. The ERDoctor at Lakeshore Hospital removed my hooked hand. Keep the hook and lure together. He can inject some novacain to freeze the flesh around the hook and the pain will go away while he slips the hook away . Cleaning the wound with sterile juice and a band aid will send you on your way. Side cutters will cut the hook but a lot of exposed hook is needed. Do not cut the hook flush with skin. Remove the fish first. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Erie United Mobile App
