Reef Runners are made to troll slower than we fish in the Eastern Basin and will wash out at speeds over 2 MPH.

We go about 40-60 feet of backer (minimum) into the water then put it on the board. The reason for this is it helps to give the Leadcore line the proper undulating action that makes it work. If you put the board within a few feet the knot where the lead and backer meet it will pin the leadcore tight, and not allow it to "flow" properly in the water column.
