  1. I looked at both Starcraft's and Alumacrafts last year and ended up buying a new fishmaster 196. The alumacraft's are very nice boats but are shallower than the fishmaster. I went with the fishmaster because I troll on erie 90%of the time. If I was more into bass fishing I would have bought the competitor. The trophy is midway between the competitor and fishmaster depth wise.
  2. If you decide to buy offshore boards buy the OR 12's. They can handle 10 color leadcore easily. You can buy them from Franks Outdoors for 80.00 a set with tattle flags
  3. Spring browns on lake erie Does anyone troll for spring browns in shallow like they do on lake ontario? I know a couple people will troll the Dunkirk harbor but more interested in other areas along the shore.
  4. On the north end there is a launch in mayville and another in long point. Both are nice. I'm not sure when they put the docks back in the water in mayville in the spring. The docks at long point are in year round.
  5. There are reports on iceshanty.com and they are not good. Someone checked on Saturday and reported that the ice was only an inch thick at long point I believe. Supposed to be around 50 degrees tomorrow. I don't think we will be ice fishing this year.
  6. I though about trying the lite bites this year but am still undecided. I usually use 8ft leaders on my walker deeper divers. Do you guys that use slide divers find that longer leads are more effective?
  7. I have the harness caddy shown in the picture and it works great. The loose end opposite the hooks is held on with a U shaped pin that you stick in the backside of the foam thus holding the loop end in place. The box comes with a couple xtra pins also. You can also break a small paper clip in half and use one of the halves just like the pins that are included with the box. I had some extra flat foam that I cut to the same size as the foam in the box and was able to fit a third foam pad in the smaller box for more harnesses.
  8. 16's are sold. Have the four 20's left.
  9. I have a total of 6 Alphamar linecounter reels for sale. Two of the reels are the 16LC model and 4 are the 20LC model. They are all in excellent condition and I would rate them a 9 or 9.5 out of 10. Four of them have mono backing with 100 yds of 30 lb power pro mainline. The other two 20LC models have tufline micro leadcore on them, one has 5 colors and the other has 4 colors. I will keep the leadcore if no one wants it. I also have 2 Shimano TDR 8 foot medium heavy rods and 2 cabelas 9 foot dipsey rods. I will sell them as a combo for 75.00 each or the reels separate for 60.00 each and the rods for 15.00 each. Shipping extra. Call or text 716-673-6614.
  10. We went up on Saturday and gave it a try. The first couple of drifts were a little nerve wracking due to all the boats, we counted 22 I think. After a couple of drifts we kid of got the hang of it. I ended up catching a walleye on and egg sack which was a first for me. We did not catch any salmon, only 17 were caught all morning according from the DEC guy at the launch. I will skip the weekend trips from now on and go up during the week. The fishing was a little too close for comfort with that many boats out.
  11. I plan on fishing the lower Niagara for the first time soon and have a few questions. The plan is to drift for steelhead/salmon. What launch is best to use? What areas are best to drift? Which lures/bait are best? Are there any good tackle stores nearby? I'm assuming most people use three way rigs to fish there? thanks in advance for your help.
  12. fished out of Dunkirk today from 8:00 until 11:30. Ran out west of the harbor to the Portland ball and tried in 60-75 ft for an hour and a half, didn't catch anything and very few marks n the screen. Moved back out front of the harbor in 75 to 90 ft and managed to catch a 3lb walleye in 80 ft. There was a lot of empty screen time there also.
  13. Fished dunkirk from 9 till noon today. Caught 4 walleyes and 3 steelhead. 10 color leadcore with stickbaits and dispseys set on 3 190 back worked the best.
  14. The app I used is called iWindsurf. I have used it all year and it is very accurate.
  15. The App that I use is showing steady winds out of the south 20 mph with 30 mph gusts at 6AM. I agree with Stillwater.
  16. Thanks, figured it wasn't perch.
  17. And another
  18. Had this on my graph a few days ago out of dunkirk. I'm not sure if it was perch or not but the weird part is that it was undulating up and down like a snake in the water. The boat was not rocking in the waves to cause this and it went on for at least 30 yds.
  19. Caught six and lost two in two hours off of dunkirk yesterday. 10 color lead with stickbaits caught most if the fish.
  20. How about getting rid of the app and using the normal website? Seems to work fine for me.
  21. According to DEC worker at the dock, boats did well today east of dunkirk. He stated that a charter boat caught 30 today. Most of the others he talked to had caught several each.
  22. Left dunkirk at around 1. Lake died down to 1-2 footers, couple bigger rollers. It was rough in the early morning. Not sure what it's doing right now, seems to be windy where I live right now.
  23. Caught 12 today, mostly smaller eaters. Caught to the west of dunkirk in 75ft. 10 and 8 color leadcore with renosky's caught most of the fish. A few on downriggers with worm harnesses.
