I use 20lb mono backing, leadcore, then 25-30 ft of 17 fluro for the leader. I use 30lb braid for divers or off the riggers with at least 10ft fluro leaders. I make my own harnesses on 17 fluro 3ft long. If flatlining early in season I use 12 lb mono. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Agreed...I used to fish out of a 16ft deep V tiller and had to pick my days, more often than not I got chased off or just too plain uncomfortable. If making a trip I'd opt for a charter rather than hope for safe water on a 14ft'er. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Out today also, took three lost one at boat. Largest was 7lbs, wife got him. Also a couple nice perch and a bunch of sheephead. Out of the Catt, trolled west towards Dunkirk pulling 3 and 4 color in 50-55, worm harnesses. Lots of debris out there today, nice day though. Hopefully this warmer weather sticks and we get into the good July bite. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

While I agree that pics should be done in such a way so as to prevent the antis from using them as fodder against us, I see nothing in this thread that is distastefull. In fact I think Steelies pics with his daughter, wife, and deer were done just fine and see nothing wrong with them. And Kid...I thought steelies first response to you was done very tastefully as well, but your response to him was was totally without taste or class. You'll garner no respect for your opinions that way. Steelie has a nice thread here, leave it alone. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Welcome...and good luck this season. Same as you, bought a boat last year, spent summer working on it and setting it up, this year plan on putting to good use. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

In the 70's thats how we got them. Drift with weighted earie dearies or yellow sally and spinner. Trolling tactics were early season flatlining rapalas at night. Last year I tried this late season where you could get your limit trolling in a couple hours. We picked up walleye but we also picked up plenty of sheephead and white perch. But there are so many walleye now that you'll pick them up....provided you get down to them....we used heavy slip sinkers. But you'll also get plenty of trash....take lots of worms...;) Sent from my LGL62VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

I think your questions were fine. Most guys would say something like what time they were fishing from, and maybe say they were hitting harnesses or stickbaits or whatever. Not like walleye in lake erie are a secret or limited in dispersal or school up tight like perch. To hell with the guy who had to harass you, most folks on here are glad to offer insight. Some are just idiots....takes all types to make a forum. Sent from my LGL62VL using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Out of catt today, wife and I boxed 10 and released 5, largest was 24. We ran 2 rods, one a dipsey at 2.5 and 180. Other rod was 10 color lead. Four times we doubled, both rods took equal. All on harnesses, one watermelon the other blue. Its unreal out there right now. Was going to run 2 more rods but the action was fast with 2. Hot time was 9:30 to 11:30. Also took 6 perch and probably 7or 8 silver bass. Great day on the lake. What a stretch of smooth water/weather we've had. Get em while they're hot!
