  1. Hey Larry good to see ya doin so much eye fishing!!! Are you still adding some extra wieght to your 5 color rods? Also has anybody heard of any good eye fishing east of dunkirk? Center rd. NW of Catt 75-80fow used to be a favorite area this time of year. We prefer coming out of Catt vs Dunkirk.
  2. Agree with you CSH Kucinski on port colburn weather bouy. I was told years ago that what ever they say it is mulitibly X 2. Seems to have proven true over the years. Did you fish near weather buoy today? How was it?? I know its very good out of Dunkirk right now. We're trying to find some good eye fishing closer to SPt. I'd really like tie up a weather man to the bow pulpit of my 22 footer so he can see what todays 1 to 2 footers looked like!!
  3. Thanks RD9. What fow to start?
  4. Thanks for the comeback guys! We live on GI so were always trying to find eyes closer to home. More time fishing less time driving.
  5. Trying to decide where to go tomorrow?? Our best fishing this year was NW of SP in about 70 fow. We went there last Monday and fish were gone. Spent that day in search mode never found them. We could launch at SBH,SP or the Catt. Prefer not to drive to Dunkirk. Appreciate any help/advice.
  6. Yeah, your right its no big deal doing the " call in" to go into canadian waters. It is tough cutting down to 2 rods a man with just 2 of us on boat. Ten Percent- I get out twice a week, seldom more. Try and network etc. as much as possible in between trips. Like to get a good box of eyes every time is the goal. Location is hugh IMHO. We heard the fish were gone before we got there monday. Went there anyhow thinking we'd find em. Our guess was to go further west,we guessed wrong and pretty much had wasted day.Still it beats a of work!!
  7. We were on em good for a couple weeks NW of SP in about 70fow, was there monday and there gone!! Covered lots of water mostly to west trying to find them did not. We did not try east of that 70fow spot thats been so good. Also theres a strong thermocline now, found a 13" break in just a 10ft span of water. It would start at 60 down depending on your location.Wonder whats happening on canadian side, but hate the hassle of crossing border. Oh well, guess a couple days of east winds changes everything!!
  8. We came out of Sturgeon on Tues, went NW to about 70 fow. Made 2 passes thru area picked up 14 eyes. Rough lake 3-5's for sure. Trolled with the waves only! All sticks, rainbow RSKI was best. Riggers 5 ft of bottom stick bait 60-70 ft back. 4 Divers out 180 at #3 no ring * 2 and 145-150 on 1.5 no ring* 2. High divers are braid #30lb low divers are 30lb 7 strand wire; Board rods were all 11 colors. All rods took fish.Go get em guys the good old days are here now!
  9. We were out of SP saturday. Fished from 12 till 5pm in approx 70fow. Picked up 13. All sticks. Rainbow crystalina RSKI was best. Riggers,Dipseys and 10 color + 1oz. Eyes were right on the bottom.
  10. Hey Jimski2 thanks for the info on center road area. One of my favorite places to get em going back any years. So did you actually fish there recently and do well? We came out of SP
  11. Hey Jimski2 thanks for the info on center road area. One of my favorite places to get em going back any years. So did you actually fish there recently and do well? We came out of SP tues and got 10 in afternoon trip. Not as fast and furious as saturdays action was.

  15. We're gonna be out tomorrow (sunday). Just Tryin to decide where to go. No info from today with the small craft warnings. My gut says go to dunkirk and fish the hill in 65-75fow to start. Were not going to launch till about 11am, plan on fishing till dark. Better weather report for the afternoon. Any opinions appreciated.
  16. I agree with Puckin Dog 110% !!!. Been chasin eyes East basin since 1987. My info is that almost any eye over 7 lbs early in summer is a female. The southtown tourny IMHO is targeting our breeding stock of female walleyes in the eastern basin. We are shooting ourselves in the foot with the timing of this tournament. I remember when Tom Marks was president it did get moved to about the 3rd week of July. Those were a fun couple of years. We caught way more eyes then years when tourny was in early june. Plus WE HAD KIDS ON THE BOAT cause they were done with school!! Later July we usually have the influx of western basin eyes so were not just hammering on our local breeding stock. I'm chasin walleyes as much as ever cause I enjoy he challenge and love eatin them. The small ones taste great!! Have not been a member of STW for a good # of years cause I dont agree with the timing of this local tournament.
  17. eMy best dipsey color on erie has been metallic red. Same with all my jets. I also have some purple prism dipseys that have been good and you cant go wrong with black. Honestly i think its a confidence thing. Not sure dipsey color really matters that much. The bait behind the dipsey matters more in my HO. How far out your diver is,dialed on 1,2 or 3 thats what matters. Also ring or no ring. We typically run no ring 90% of time. Have no problem getting down to whatever depth with 30lb power pro or 30lb 7 strand wire. As we move into mid summer dipseys can really shine!! What i call boat tricks can get them really goin. Hard turns left or right, slow downs&speed ups can really trigger strikes.
  18. Thermocline is definitly something to pay attention to when hunting walleyes. I ihave found that active eyes are usually in 60-65 degree temps this time of year. I run a fish hawk and always check to see where the cline is. Seldom do we pull an eye out of water lower then 58.
