I was there from 4 to 6 pm Saturday. Sweltering hot. Never had a bite, used all crawler harnesses this Time. I fished just west and 75 to 80 FOW. Oh, the thermocline was at 60 ft down. 81 degree surface, and at 60 ft it was 65 degrees as I recall. Usually I see same temp top to bottom out there. We fished off catt today August 15, as well. Same story as others that went too deep. We were 75 to 85 FOW. Only caught one walleye, this 9 pounder. We used dipsey diver, leadcore and downriggers. Guy at cleaning station had nice bag. He said they were 60 to 70 and they used all harnesses and did well. Our screens were loaded with more bait than I've ever seen before. 20 to 40 down. Saw some walleyes but not many. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

There's no Argument. I'm just passing on what was taught to us by a charter captain, and my experience on the water, seeing these marks on bottom and suspended, and then fluttering spoons up through the suspended ribbon looking returns, and catching Walleyes. I think the Captain is correct and it has to do with Air Bladders of different species. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Hey Guys, the long ribbons are Walleyes. According to a Walleye Charter Captain that gave a class at the Niagara Expo show, he showed screen shots of his fish finder and pointed out the walleyes, versus sheepshead and bass etc. It has to do with the sir bladders. So yes, those longer ribbons, strings are Walleyes. Bass and sheepshead show as hooks. Believe it or not. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

We're the marks Walleyes? I'm told Walleye marks are not hooks, they are longer stringy lines. I will post a picture if I can find one. Also, we've been over solid screens of walleyes, and they woul not bite a drifted crawler, jig or anything. Had to troll to get them to bite! Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Other methods besides trolling Erie, PA
garrymny replied to Pafish86's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Strange thing, but I have stopped and pulled the trolling gear when there were walleye covering the screen of my fish finder. Let down and tried jigs, etc, and caught nothing! Went back to trolling. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App -
Wednesday Aug 20. Rough Water going out. Lake layed down some by noon. Started at 75 fow and trolled to 88 fow. Spent most of the time in 78 to 85 FOW trolling West. Caught 9 Walleye by 9 am then it slowed down. Ended up with 10 by noon. All on various stick baits on 10 color and 7 color lead cores. Caught a few on fluttering spoons up from downrigger placed one foot from the bottom. Dipsey divers did not produce for us. One was in the water for hours with a crawler harness and it was never touched. I woul get there at daybreak next time. We started at 645 am and it took 20 minutes to get out to depth it was so rough. Saw lots of bait, and huge globs of something on the bottom. I perceived them to be perch. Went today for only our second trip out of Catt. July 4 was our other trip. ZILCH both times! Wow, perplexing what has happened this year compared to the last 2 or 3. Every one has a theory. My brother in law from PA fished out of Erie last week and got a 2 man limit. We saw very little on our screen either. Saw some bait though. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App

No Good JULY 3. Tried from 50 to 70 FOW. Not much showing on screen. Started off towards Dunkirk then by 10 we ended up east of catt about a mile. Caught one perch one sheepshead. CUOMO IS NOT ALLOWING ANY WALLEYES INTO NEW YORK DUE TO THE COVID 19. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Erie United Mobile App
