  1. A dozen trips means you're a rookie. Learn how to fish the lake and you will catch fish. Erie is a top notch walleye, perch, bass, sheepshead etc.etc.etc. lake. Do you give up so easily on everything you do? I've been fishing Erie for over fifty years and learned alot on my own. As for this forum, there are many posts on here from knowledgeable fishermen giving detailed reports. Go back and read them and learn. Rant over!!! Not quite........you only joined the forum eleven hours ago....
  2. Trolling bags are the only way to go. Plates reduce the amount of thrust which can cause problems in windy conditions. Check out Amish Outfitters beefy bags. Have had mine for ten years and they are still going strong.
  3. Anchor Marine. Great people and service department. Ask for Leo. Tell 'em Andy sent ya.
  4. Thanks for the review. I launch solo a lot so will see how it goes.
  5. What are you looking for?
  6. Black's are the releases of my choice.
  7. Don't get me started on that subject...........we could fill pages if that thread was started!!!!!!!
  8. I always look for the pack of boats..............then head the other way. There are more than one school of perch in the lake. As for the I-pilot cowboys
  9. You can launch at the Small Boat Harbor, Docks are in. About a twelve mile run to Sturgeon Point depending on where you want to be.
  10. Good info Jimski.
  11. Launching a boat without a dock is not that hard. Been doing it for many years by myself. Just do it and you'll figure it out.
  12. Thanks goes out to you for providing such a great site. Looking forward to posting some reports this coming season.
  13. Try this site..... https://parks.ny.gov/parks/191/details.aspx
  14. I use dipsies with a 6' leader. Thinking about trying the chinook divers this year.
  15. I started on the Erie Lackawanna. Then Conrail was formed in 1976. Finished on CSX. Came up through the ranks from laborer to managing the locomotive operations in Buffalo. Spent 2 years in the Operations Center in Jacksonville Fla. Still have my house there. Going back soon. Came up for the holidays. Stayed here too long but I enjoy seeing my kids and grandson. Coming up on my 3 year anniversary of retirement.
  16. Glad you joined. The more the merrier.......
  17. It will go by fast is what they used to tell me. Forty years was enough for me. I do miss work sometimes. Railroading is a unique industry.
  18. Doin' alright John. Hope the same is with you. Diggin' this retirement thing.
  19. Thank You. That's gonna help the guys that haven't figured it out yet.
  20. I always use clear mono. No issues catching fish.
  21. Maybe Jimski will chime in on this subject. He's been vocal about access for a long time. Has been pushing for a launch on Smokes Creek to no avail. Maybe Chad could move this thread to the Open Lake board where I'm sure it would get more views and opinions.
  22. No need to take the blame. As with anything new there are always bugs to work out. Thanks to your clarification I was able to get'er done.
  23. Money for dredging should come from the state. We can't afford to lose a launch site. There aren't enough on Erie as it is.
  24. Thanks for the update. I made 2 posts yesterday and when I looked this morning I still had zero entries. I did not see the continue button. I'll look after this post is made. Thank you for a great forum.
