jimski2,Ha Ha! Yes the old guys Muskie trolling the upper Niagara River at night in the late 70's used similar tatics,no lights on so you could not see them. Then before returning back to Hank's Boat Livery they would change out lures on their rods so you would see what you thought they were using.Everything was a secret to the grave! Each fishermen has his own preference,I usually only keep the smaller eyes to eat and put back the bigger ones. But you also can't always successfully release walleye brought up from deep water fast,so they become part of the box. When Tourney fishing the big eyes go in the box and little eyes get released,if they can be,if not I live with them mixed in my daily limit. Any Auxiliary U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla will have trained personnel to inspect your vessel. http://www.wnyboatsafe.org Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Doesn't mean the U.S. Coast Guard will not stop boats for safety equipment checks, just they will not ticket you for speeding if your following the boating rules of the road. This time of the year the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves are doing their training time and they will stop boats for safety checks a lot.Once you have been inspected once, they usually have your boat registration number and leave you alone. jimski2,that was a tough bite.I have not been out the last couple days because of meetings with NY Parks & U.S. Coast Guard. But being down by the SBH Launch I got to talk to a few fishermen that were having their catch of eyes measured by the NSDEC.Those with limits were bottom bouncing with harnesses at slow speeds of 1.2 to 1.3 mph in 35 ft depths off Hamburg. Most of the eyes were of the 2 to 3 lb good eating size. Bottom bouncers going 1.2 to 1.3 mph with electric trolling motor in 35ft waters with copper with orange or watermelon tape harnesses have been catching limits, but all 2 to 3 lb good eaters. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Erie United Mobile App

Just finished up with a meeting with all the NY Sate,County,Outer Harbor Development at the U.S. Coast Guard Base Buffalo. Now listen to this carefully, they have taken down the 10 mph Speed Limit signs for the Buffalo Inter Harbor. They will no longer pull you over for speed in your boat as long as you are not reckless and putting others at harm,U.S. Coast Guard discretion. So if you respect other boats by using navigation rules on the water for passing other boats and move a little away from drifting or anchored boats you will have no problem. Also the intersection of Furhmann Blvd & SBH boat Launch road will become a 4 Way Stop, eliminating the problem of speeding traffic down Furhmann Blvd causing near collisions with trailered boats trying to turn left coming out.
